"Hold your hands out gently. Ask others to do the same.
See how different each person looks.
Each person has their own unique and natural beauty.
Use this natural beauty when you dance. Respect your individuality."

Euphraxia ~ A Latin Term meaning "Joyful Movement". And joyful movement is the spirit of American Tribal Style Bellydance!

Dance:

Euphraxia, Buffalo's first American Tribal Style® Bellydance Company: Instructors, and Performers, are proudly dedicated to the art of Carolena Nericcio's Amerian Tribal Style® Bellydance - the bellydance of FatChanceBellydance® in San Francisco, California.

Leslie Fineberg is a Certified American Tribal Style® Bellydacer, Instructor, and a Sister Studio to FatChanceBellydance®. She travels to study ATS® on a regular basis: at dance intensives/workshops, with private lessons, and with other Sister Studios. She firmly believes that dance is an ongoing learning process... and that in order to keep true to any dance, one must continue to take classes, be mentored, study, and prepare to evolve as the dance evolves.

Leslie is also proud to be involved with Buffalo Contact Improv, as well as other contemporary, expressive, and modern dance projects. In 2011, she helped form a collaborative dance and sound project called "The Four Graces", and continues to collaborate with other local artists: dancers, musicians, performance artists and acting troupes/companies.

Drumming & Music:

Leslie is also a drummer with a local djembe drum ensemble (under the direction of the talented and wise, Grace Turner of The Miraculous Rhythms of Sankofa) that is preparing to be a part of the huge upcoming Million Women Drummers event in 2013.

Fire Art:

She also studies fire art as part of Four Quarters Alchemy: Fire & Dance, and collaborates with Buffalo's very own Pyromance.

Community:

Leslie is in her 4th year of being the Dance Organizer/Coordinator for the Buffalo Infringement Festival, and takes great pride in the festival... it really is the BEST Arts and Entertainment Festival in Buffalo! A great article about the Dance of Buffalo Infringement can be found here:

Dance in the 2010 Buffalo Infringement Festival

Recently, Leslie and Nicole "Tehani" Hudon founded a new American Tribal Style® project called "One Dance: No Borders". The Mission Statement of which is:

One Dance No Borders: American Tribal Style® Bellydance... the dance of sisterhood and brotherhood. The dance of our "tribe". The dance that brings us all together, and allows us to speak with one another, through movement. Movement, that creates a one of a kind piece of artwork, each and every time it's done. Artwork, that lives on to leave it's mark on everyone who partakes and watches. Artwork that is joyful, graceful, strong, and magical. American Tribal Style® Bellydance... the dance with no borders. Meant to be done with anyone else who "speaks it's language". At Tribal Union 2011, this new "universal" dance troupe project, will make it's debut. Founded by 2 Sister Studios: Leslie Fineberg (of Euphraxia) and Nicole "Tehani" Hudson, with hopes that it will grow from here, giving ATS® dancers who just want to dance with other ATS® dancers, the change to do that... perhaps at festivals such as Tribal Union, as a "troupe", one that honors ATS® and what Carolena Nericcio has given us. The ATS® of ODND is "classic" FCBD® ATS®, and 100% improv.

While I dance,
I cannot hate, I cannot judge.
I cannot separate myself from life.
I can only be joyful and whole.
That is why I dance!
