Both Leslie and Diana, are FatChanceBellydance Certified American Tribal Style Teachers. They are dedicated to presenting ATS as created and developed by FatChanceBellyDance and director and master teacher (and, our Mentor), Carolena Nericcio. In their classes, Leslie and Diana do NOT blend with or present other styles of Tribal Bellydance, as they follow the FatChanceBellyDance 'Sister Studio' goal, which is to ensure that you, the student, should be able to attend a FCBD ATS class anywhere in the world (and now, in Buffalo NY!), and receive consistent, quality instruction. "When performing these movements, try to remember the origins and influences of them. This is a fusion dance performed against a cultural backdrop. Each movement has a particular feeling to it, so it is important to represent that "origin" in your dance. Imagine the grace of a full-skirted Indian woman with heavy silver anklets, balancing a water pot on her head, when you execute the Camel Walk. Picture the dramatic passion of a flamenco dancer when sweeping your arms to accent a slow move. And never forget the playful Egyptian Baladi dancers and the earthy Ghawazee when performing shimmies and the other movements described above. With our small repertoire of movements, marrying the moves with the appropriate music and differentiating each dance in your set with the feeling of it, will create variety and spice in your shows." - Tribal Talk Retrospective.
