There is great power in dance
It tells the stories of the dancers' origins
Their struggles and journeys
Their hopes and fears
It tells the story of the infinite life cycle
It conditions us for birth
It sees us through life
It readies us for death
And teaches us about the rebirth of spirit
With every 'snake arm' - Every infinity sign
Every circle drawn with our bodies
We tell the story of our lives
No matter what our age, gender, nationality, religion,
social position, shape or temperament
This dance... UNITES us
We join hands
We sweat, we work, we laugh, we cry
And together ... we create something BEAUTIFUL!
In my journey with tis dance, I have seen a woman
once bedridden with illness...
... gain the strength to rise up and whirl in joy,
then go on to teach others to do the same
Learn to connect... and say the words, "I love you".
I have seen more than one survivor or abuse and
rape not only learn to defend herself...
... but also learn to trust.
And to blossom her own sensual, feminine core.
That is the power of this dance.
The dance transforms us, and each dancer...
